In the Middle Ages, to be exact, in the 18th century, the fabric corduroy was exclusively something for the beautiful and wealthy. Only kings and rich nobles could afford it anyway, corduroy at that time was often sewn only from pure silk. The French agricultural workers, as well as the English miners, needed something as solid as rough instead of the vivid guild clothing made of the kind of fabric. For example, stretching a pair of roofing trousers after washing in a damp state can relieve most of the shrinkage. Guild clothing has a considerable span which concerns the topic clothing.
