Leather-free safety shoes are now available from many brand manufacturers in a large selection. The reasons for a leather-free shoe are different. For example, there are allergy sufferers who have an intolerance to leather and are dependent on a textile shoe that meets all safety regulations. Likewise, of course, there may be ethical reasons where the wearer wants to do without leather shoes. Another reason, from a technical standpoint, is either the lighter weight or increased breathability of a leather-free safety shoe. Nowadays, there are many textile upper materials, such as Cordura®, which are in no way inferior to the resistance of robust full leather. In combination with a Gore-Tex® membrane, these work shoes can not only be made very breathable but also permanently waterproof. Leather-free safety shoes are therefore often the better choice, especially if you are looking for a lightweight work shoe with high water resistance and sufficient breathability.
